Volvo is preparing to launch the EX50, an entry-level electric SUV aimed at the Tesla Model Y, at US dealerships in 2027, where it will replace the EX40 as the brand's most affordable EV.
Sources told Automotive News the EX50 will be taller and longer than the EX40 and slightly cheaper, starting in the upper $40,000 range versus the 2026 EX40's $56,545 starting price.
Following the EX60, Volvo filed an EUIPO trademark for the EX50 name the same week it announced after Q2 earnings that it would unveil two new electric models by the end of summer, with the EX50 to be built on the new SPA3 platform.
