Tesla's Ashok Elluswamy posted on X that FSD, based on 12 billion miles of real-world use, achieves twice the miles between collisions compared with manual driving.
He attributed this to FSD being trained on corner cases drawn from more than 1,000 lifetimes of driving, enabling accurate collision-probability prediction in extreme scenarios such as other cars running red lights, vehicles swerving into it, or children darting into the road.
Elluswamy called getting a Tesla with FSD a "no-brainer" way to improve family safety and said it removes the stress of driving, adding he holds this view independent of his employment at Tesla.
