MINIEYE announced on July 17 via WeChat that it has formed a strategic partnership with StarCharge to build automated charging hubs for driverless vehicles, integrating onboard autonomous driving systems with automated energy services at charging sites to enable an operating model requiring little or no on-site human intervention.
The two companies plan to open their infrastructure standards to other industry participants, targeting applications across autonomous urban delivery, industrial park logistics and Level 4 passenger vehicles.
The deal addresses an infrastructure gap widening as driverless logistics fleets move from limited trials to broader commercial deployment, where operators face slow or inefficient charging, high labor costs, a shortage of urban sites able to host large vehicle numbers, and grid strain from poorly coordinated concentrated fleet charging.
