Momenta recently obtained an L4-level Robotaxi road-testing license in Shenzhen, coinciding with the revised Shenzhen Intelligent Connected Vehicle Management Regulations that took effect this month and lower testing thresholds while permitting fully driverless testing; on the news, Momenta's Hong Kong-listed shares rose over 10% intraday on July 21 before closing at HK$278, up 6.35%.
The company's Robotaxi operations now span Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Shenzhen domestically plus Munich (Germany) and Abu Dhabi (UAE) overseas, with partners including SAIC Motor, Mercedes-Benz, and Uber.
A mass-produced L4 Robotaxi jointly built by Momenta, SAIC, and Xiangdao Chuxing — Shanghai's first factory-installed high-level autonomous vehicle — is slated for 2027, built on Momenta's R7 world model, which entered mass production in April and powers a general AI foundation adaptable to passenger transport, freight, and robotics.
