Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun published a lengthy Weibo post on Wednesday defending the timing of the company's entry into extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), arguing Xiaomi is not too late to the segment.
Lei cited strong demand for Li Auto's new-generation Li L6 as evidence that the EREV market remains robust, with the remarks coming one day before Xiaomi's Sky Nomad technology launch event.
Separately, a Li Auto executive said headlight supply issues cut production of the Li i6 — which accounted for nearly 70% of Li Auto's June deliveries and is currently the company's most important sales pillar — by about 4,000 units.
