BYD (HKEX: 1211) launched its all-electric K-Car Racco in Japan on Tuesday (Jul 28, 2026), entering the K-Car segment that accounts for nearly 40% of the country's new-vehicle sales and directly challenging Toyota, Honda, and Nissan on their home turf.
The Racco starts at 2.145 million yen ($13,100) and falls below 2 million yen after a 150,000-yen government subsidy, with the entry-level version offering a WLTC range of 210 kilometers.
By comparison, Nissan's Sakura — currently Japan's best-selling EV — starts at about 2.44 million yen but offers only 180 kilometers of range per full charge, while Honda's all-electric minicar N-ONE e: is also named among the rivals BYD is targeting.
