German battery recycler Cylib has acquired a mechanical processing facility in Bavaria with annual capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes of end-of-life EV batteries, extending its operations to cover the full chain from spent batteries to recovered raw materials.
The plant is expected to begin operations in Q4 2026, pending approval under Germany's Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), and will mechanically process batteries into black mass to supply Cylib's hydrometallurgical recycling plant under construction in Dormagen.
Cylib did not name the seller, but the facility is likely tied to insolvent Roth International, which had planned a recycling site in Wernberg-Köblitz reported back in 2022 before recently filing for insolvency.
