Swedish electric and autonomous trucking company Einride has agreed to acquire EV charging startup Flipturn in an all-stock deal worth $38 million, marking Einride's first acquisition since becoming a publicly traded company, with the deal expected to close this month.
Flipturn, founded in 2022 and employing 17 people who will stay on as the same team, had raised $15.5 million in venture capital to build a charging software platform that communicates with any EV charger via the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), monitors charger health, pulls in vehicle battery levels, driving history and routes, and integrates with on-site solar and energy storage systems.
Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli called the deal "a decisive step" in the company's U.S. scaling strategy, with the acquisition making Einride a more vertically integrated company able to offer customers electric trucks alongside charging infrastructure.
