Revoy EV, a San Francisco-based trucking startup, raised $27 million in a Series A round led by Standard Capital, with Doerr Capital, Time Ventures, Y Combinator, and Leap Ventures participating, according to Dealroom.
The company's system packs batteries and an electric drive axle into a tandem trailer that fits between a conventional semi truck and its trailer, aiming to electrify diesel semis in minutes without replacing the truck itself.
Revoy claims the retrofit can cut a fleet's fuel bill in half, and after years of development the concept is now taking real steps toward production.
