Momenta has officially obtained Shenzhen's intelligent connected vehicle road-testing permit and will launch L4-level Robotaxi real-world testing in the city, aided by Shenzhen's revised regulation (effective July 2026) that lowers application barriers and supports driverless testing.
At the 2026 World AI Conference, Xiangdao Chuxing announced the launch of SAIC's mass-production customized Robotaxi model equipped with Momenta's L4 autonomous driving system, set to debut in 2027 as Shanghai's first front-loaded mass-production model with advanced autonomy, with SAIC manufacturing, Momenta supplying the driving system, and Xiangdao handling operations.
Momenta's Robotaxi fleet already operates in Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Shenzhen, Munich and Abu Dhabi with partners including SAIC Xiangdao, Uber, Grab, Lumo and Mercedes-Benz, and its April-launched R7 world model—trained on over 12 billion km of driving data and 100 million critical-scenario clips via pretraining, closed-loop simulation and reinforcement learning—aims to sharpen decision-making in complex traffic as Tesla's own Robotaxi service expands across Austin, Dallas, Houston, the Bay Area and Miami.
