Oji Logistics and T2 began commercial operation of autonomous trucks for regular transport of paper products on a roughly 510km round-trip route between Oji Logistics' Ariake branch in Koto Ward, Tokyo, and its Ajikawa branch in Osaka.
Level 2 autonomous driving is used on about 420km of that route, from the Ayase Smart IC on the Tomei Expressway to the Kumiyama Junction on the Keishin Bypass, following four verification runs conducted between October 2025 and May 2026 that confirmed no issues with safety or transport quality.
Oji Logistics is pursuing logistics DX to address driver shortages and ease driver workload, and based on the commercial results is considering joining T2's planned Level 4 autonomous truck trunk-line transport service targeted for fiscal 2027 onward.
