Hyundai Motor Group appointed Kwon Jung-hyun as Vice President and head of the Autonomous Driving Development Center under its AVP (Advanced Vehicle Platform) division; Kwon most recently led intelligent robot development at Samsung Electronics and earlier worked at NVIDIA on autonomous driving software development and productization, with hands-on experience in perception software, deep learning, machine learning and computer vision.
Kwon will oversee Hyundai's core autonomous driving technology from R&D through mass production and commercialization, in a move the company frames as an extension of its "Physical AI" strategy — fusing software-defined vehicles (SDV), autonomous driving and robotics into a single technology framework.
The hire follows Hyundai's earlier-2026 appointment of Park Min-woo, a Tesla and NVIDIA veteran, as President and head of the AVP division as well as CEO of subsidiary 42dot; at NVIDIA, Park had built out the company's autonomous-driving perception technology organization.
