Tesla announced on Thursday, July 30, 2026 that it has built its 10 millionth electric vehicle, six years after hitting the one-millionth mark, putting it halfway to the 20-million-vehicle build target Tesla must reach by 2035.
That 20-million figure is one of four "product goals" - alongside 10 million Full Self-Driving subscriptions, 1 million "bots," and 1 million robotaxis on the road by 2035 - CEO Elon Musk must hit to unlock the full value of the $1 trillion pay package shareholders approved last year.
Growth is slowing: Tesla has never sold 2 million vehicles in a single year, and U.S. sales fell 13% year-over-year in Q2 2026, pushing the company toward newer markets like Japan and Australia even as U.S. rivals Rivian and Lucid Motors have struggled to reach scale.
