Mobileye founder and CEO Amnon Shashua, after leading the company for nearly three decades, plans to step down and has been invited to become chairman of the board; per a regulatory filing Thursday, July 23, 2026, he will remain CEO until a successor is hired, as Mobileye pushes into robotaxis and humanoid robotics.
Mobileye grew from a computer-vision chipmaker based on Shashua's Hebrew University research into a major auto-safety supplier, staged Israel's largest-ever IPO, was acquired by Intel in 2017 for $15.3 billion, then spun back out as a public company in 2022 with Intel remaining its largest shareholder; under Shashua it also built its own autonomous-driving systems, now supplied to Volkswagen and its MOIA subsidiary.
In January, Mobileye acquired Shashua's own humanoid-robotics startup Mentee Robotics for $900 million, calling it part of "Mobileye 3.0," and in June said it would expand beyond its chip-supplier role — moves that underscore the strategic shift accompanying the leadership change.
