Ford issued a recall on July 31, 2026 covering roughly 566,000 Bronco SUVs from model years 2021-2026, built between September 2020 and June 2026, after finding insufficient abrasion protection on the underhood engine wiring harness.
Repeated relative movement can chafe the harness and trigger a short circuit that raises fire risk; Ford estimates about 1% of the recalled vehicles actually exhibit the defect.
The recall traces back to a June 18, 2026 Critical Concern Review Group investigation into Bronco fire incidents, and starting August 24 owners can get free installation of protective plastic sheathing and abrasion tape at Ford or Lincoln dealers.
