China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has reportedly ordered passenger vehicle makers to immediately stop installing external blue indicator lights — known in the industry as "little blue lights" — that signal when driver-assistance systems are active.
The order, revealed via a notice screenshot shared Wednesday by auto industry blogger Sun Shaojun, cites non-compliance with GB 4785, China's national standard governing vehicle-light colors.
MIIT will next study how to handle vehicles already sold with the blue lights installed.
