TechCrunch and Hudson Labs analyzed seven years of GM and Ford quarterly earnings calls and found both automakers now mention EVs at pre-pandemic rates, far below their peak EV-focused messaging.
Both companies have delayed, altered, or abandoned EV models over the past two years, triggering layoffs and scaled-back factory plans, even as they continue selling EVs and developing new models.
GM spokesperson Jim Cain said "quality counts more than quantity," insisting EVs remain the company's long-term endgame despite the reduced investor-call emphasis.
