Tesla has produced its 10 millionth electric vehicle globally; the milestone vehicle, a Model Y in "Diamond Black," rolled off the line at the company's original plant in Fremont, California, making Tesla the first pure-EV maker to reach this production scale.
The pace accelerated sharply: Tesla hit the 1-million-vehicle mark at Fremont in spring 2020, then needed just six years to grow tenfold to 10 million.
CEO Elon Musk congratulated the Tesla team on the "enormous achievement," the article notes, while pointing out that Musk, though often mistaken for the company's founder, actually joined Tesla after its founding and was responsible for driving its subsequent scaling.
