Chery's iCar brand rolled off the first locally produced iCar V23, an all-electric SUV, from its new Malaysian plant, with the model set to start arriving at local showrooms in late July 2026, per a Wednesday statement.
The Malaysian plant broke ground in February 2025 and has an initial annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles; the iCar V23 first launched in Malaysia in November 2025 in two variants priced from 119,800 ringgit ($29,320) to 132,800 ringgit.
The rugged, boxy all-electric SUV targets younger consumers, and local production marks Chery (HKEX: 9973) deepening its Southeast Asia manufacturing footprint beyond exports.
