Li Wenguang, president of Huawei's Intelligent Driving Solution product line, said the industry is experiencing a genuine "autonomous driving bubble," with rampant marketing hype leaving ordinary consumers unable to tell different systems' real capabilities apart.
He noted that while many products market themselves as "advanced autonomous driving," actual hands-off driving distances vary greatly: some systems achieve only hundreds to thousands of kilometers, while very few reach tens of thousands of kilometers.
Li stressed that genuine high-level autonomous driving requires hundreds of thousands of accident-free kilometers as its baseline standard, a gap far wider than what most current products actually deliver.
