Hyundai Motor Group has hired Vice President Kwon Jung-hyun as head of the Autonomous Driving Development Center under its AVP (Advanced Vehicle Platform) division; Kwon most recently led intelligent robot development at Samsung Electronics and previously led autonomous driving software development and productization at NVIDIA, with experience spanning perception software, deep learning, machine learning and computer vision.
The move follows Hyundai's earlier-2026 hire of Park Min-woo as President, head of the AVP division and CEO of subsidiary 42dot: at NVIDIA, Park built the autonomous driving perception organization and led mass-production projects with global automakers, and at Tesla he led design of the first "Tesla Vision" system, driving the shift from external-solution-based Autopilot to an in-house camera-based deep learning system.
Both hires advance Hyundai's "Physical AI" strategy, which fuses software-defined vehicles (SDV), autonomous driving and robotics into a single technology system, with the group also recruiting additional talent from Tesla, NVIDIA, Apple and Samsung over the past month.
